“Restoring full statehood is one of the primary aspirations of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. My government stands firm in its pledge to address this need,” he stated.
Sinha acknowledged the emotional and political importance of this desire and expressed the government’s intent to engage with all interested parties.
“This budget holds historic importance as it is the first to be presented by an elected administration in Jammu and Kashmir in the past seven years. It signifies the voice of the people, crafted by their elected representatives,” he noted.
The Lieutenant Governor further mentioned that this budget is not merely a financial document but also embodies the hopes and aspirations of the community for a brighter future.
He reaffirmed the government’s promise to uphold peace and prosperity while keeping the commitments made to the citizens.
“Our economy has demonstrated considerable growth despite various challenges. The government is dedicated to transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a thriving economy,” he added.
This session represents the second gathering of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly since the formation of the NC-led government in the Union Territory.
The assembly previously convened in Srinagar from November 4 to 8 last year, a mere 20 days post the establishment of the government.
In August 2019, the Centre rescinded the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, dividing it into two Union Territories—Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
