JAMMU, Dec 22: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, Education, Sakina Itoo, stated today that the Government is dedicated to providing essential resources and support to specially-abled individuals to help them lead an independent, high-quality, and dignified life.

The Minister made these comments while distributing artificial limbs, callipers, crutches, tricycles, and wheelchairs to specially-abled individuals at Brahman Sabha Parade. This event was organized by Shree Atam Vallabh Jain Clinic Jammu and was sponsored by the Rural Electrification Corporation in partnership with Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayta Samiti Kota.
Speaking to the attendees, Sakina Itoo underscored the Government’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of the disabled community to enhance their dignity. “The current government is resolute in improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. We are committed to supplying them with the necessary resources and support to ensure they can live meaningful lives,” she asserted.
“The Omar-led Government is determined to address all concerns affecting people, particularly the specially-abled community. We are working to increase the disability pension from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 3000 monthly,” Sakina announced. She noted that this increase would alleviate financial pressure on families and provide them with additional economic support.
On this occasion, the Minister also stressed the significance of inclusive growth and the need to focus on marginalized communities, especially disabled individuals. She assured the audience that the Government would continue to prioritize the disabled community’s needs, with plans for enhanced accessibility and support.
Sakina Itoo praised the NGO for their commendable efforts and assured them of the Government’s ongoing support, stating that the issues they raised would be addressed promptly. She encouraged them to conduct awareness campaigns in various regions to educate people, especially those with disabilities, about their rights and available services.
The Minister also interacted with the specially-abled individuals and promised them continuous Government support.
General Secretary of Shree Atam Vallabh Jain Clinic Jammu, Pradeep Jain, reported that 429 individuals were screened during the camp, while 123 hearing aids were provided to patients. Additionally, 104 artificial limbs, 73 callipers, 22 artificial hands, 20 wheelchairs, and 19 tricycles were distributed among beneficiaries during the three-day camp.
