JAMMU, Dec 24: The Jammu and Kashmir government announced on Tuesday the establishment of District Level Committees aimed at supervising the verification of beneficiaries listed in the Public Distribution System (PDS) database.
According to the order, these committees will verify the eligibility of beneficiaries, identify any eligible individuals who were previously excluded, and finalize the e-KYC process for those whose applications are pending.
Chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, the committees will include the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Assistant Commissioner (Development), District Social Welfare Officer, and Assistant Director (FCS & CA) as members. The Assistant Director (FCS & CA) will act as the Member Secretary, with the Chairperson having the authority to add other members as necessary.
The committees are tasked with ensuring that all individuals in the beneficiary database adhere to relevant regulations, thereby removing ineligible cases. They will also work to identify and incorporate any eligible individuals who are currently excluded from the PDS categories. Furthermore, the committees will oversee the successful completion of e-KYC for all eligible beneficiaries within the PDS framework.
Per the government directive, the committees must present their reports to the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs within a month.
