Jammu, Mar 6: The Jammu & Kashmir Government announced on Thursday that the size of the council of ministers in Jammu & Kashmir should not exceed 10 percent of the total members in the Legislative Assembly.
In response to a query posed by MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also the minister in charge of the General Administration Department, stated that the council of ministers’ strength should be limited to 10 percent of the total Assembly members as outlined in the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act of 2019.
When asked about the ministers’ departmental responsibilities, including those of the Chief Minister, the Government provided names of the departments for five cabinet ministers but did not disclose the departments held by the Chief Minister.
“Departments that are not assigned to any of the Hon’ble ministers are managed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister,” the government clarified in the written response. (KNO)
