NEW DELHI, Feb 1: On Saturday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government plans to develop the top 50 tourist sites in collaboration with various states. Additionally, Mudra loans will be made available to support the establishment of homestays.
To enhance the tourism sector in India, Sitharaman indicated that the government would promote medical tourism in cooperation with the private sector and that there would be a particular emphasis on destinations significant to the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.
During the Budget presentation for 2025-26, the minister also mentioned that financial backing would be allocated for the Western Kosi Canal, which would benefit approximately 50,000 hectares in the Mithilanchal region of Bihar. (PTI)
