Pilibhit/Chandigarh, Dec 23: In a significant operation, three terror suspects allegedly linked to the grenade attack in Gurdaspur were killed during an encounter with a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police in Pilibhit early Monday morning. Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, described this event as a crucial victory against the Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force module.
The suspects were identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh, also known as Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh, referred to as Pratap Singh (18), all hailing from Gurdaspur, Punjab.
The encounter occurred in the Puranpur area of Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh.
Amitabh Yash, the Additional Director General (Law and Order) of Uttar Pradesh Police, mentioned that the group was implicated in the grenade attack targeting a police checkpoint in Gurdaspur.
“The three individuals sustained severe injuries during the encounter and were promptly transported to CHC Puranpur for medical attention,” he stated.
According to the ADG, the suspects ultimately succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities recovered two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a substantial amount of ammunition from the suspects, he added.
In a post on X, the head of Punjab police remarked, “In a significant breakthrough against the #Pak-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module, a collaborative operation between UP Police and Punjab Police has resulted in an encounter with three members of the module who fired upon the police.”
This terror faction is believed to be involved in grenade attacks targeting police facilities in border regions of Punjab.
