SRINAGAR, Feb 15: During his visit to the holy Hazratbal Shrine today, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, emphasized the shrine’s transformation as a benchmark for Waqf development throughout India.
Together with J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Rijiju offered his respects at the shrine and assessed the current development projects underway.
Speaking to the press, Rijiju praised the J&K Waqf Board’s efforts in revitalizing Sufi shrines under Dr Andrabi’s guidance, describing it as a model for similar endeavors across the nation. “As the Minister of Minority Affairs and Chairman of the Central Waqf Council, I am dedicated to bolstering the J&K Waqf Board and backing its initiatives,” he remarked.
Concerning the arrangements for Haj pilgrims, Rijiju noted that in light of the rising temperatures in Saudi Arabia, the Government has mobilized additional medical personnel to ensure the safety of Indian pilgrims.
Dr Andrabi provided the Union Minister with an update on the Board’s current and upcoming initiatives focused on improving infrastructure and facilities at the shrine.
