Srinagar, Jan 23: The Jammu and Kashmir government is preparing to introduce helicopter services to remote regions such as Gurez, Karnah, and Tangdhar to enhance connectivity in these snow-covered areas.
An official reported that a private company, Jet Serve Aviation, conducted a trial run for helicopter services to Gurez Valley today.
The trial took place in the Bagtore area of Gurez, with helicopter services to Bagtore, Baduaab, Dawar, and Badugaam villages expected to commence shortly. Similar trials are planned for other snow-affected regions, including Karnah and Tangdhar.
The initiative aims to evaluate the feasibility of providing aerial connectivity for emergency situations.
The helicopter service will primarily focus on emergency evacuations for patients, government personnel, and students, among others, according to the official.
Severe snowfall has rendered these locations inaccessible, causing closures on the Bandipora-Gurez, Kupwara-Tangdhar, and Karnah-Chowkibal roads. (KNO)
