Hamirpur (HP), Jan 21: A Public Works Department officer from Tounidevi has been fined Rs 5 for failing to attend Panchayat Samiti meetings for four consecutive years.
The fine was announced during the quarterly meeting of the Hamirpur Panchayat Samiti, as reported by Harish Sharma, the committee chairman, on Tuesday.
The meeting, held on Monday and presided over by Sharma, also addressed the budget for the 15th Finance Commission and outlined new development initiatives. The attendees included block committee members, BDC Vice President Sanjeev Sharma, and BDO Hamirpur Himanshi Sharma.
BDC Chairman Harish Sharma stated that officials from the Public Works Department in Tauni Devi had repeatedly missed meetings, despite numerous reminders, which hindered departmental development efforts. Following a unanimous decision by the members, a fine of Rs 5 was imposed.
However, Devraj, the Executive Engineer of PWD Mandal, claimed he was unaware of the meeting.
