Akhnoor, Jan 14: On Veterans Day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha honored ex-servicemen from the Armed Forces during a commemorative event led by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh at Akhnoor.
“I express my deepest gratitude to all veterans, courageous Jawans, Veer Naris, and the families of our Armed Forces’ heroes. We remain forever grateful to our Veterans for safeguarding our nation from adversaries and for their ongoing contributions to national development,” stated the Lieutenant Governor.
He acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Rajnath Singh, for designating Veterans’ Day to celebrate the remarkable service of ex-servicemen. The Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed the government’s pledge to safeguard the interests of Armed Forces personnel and their families.
“The soldiers guarding our borders are essential for the nation’s security and progress. It is the collective duty of society to adopt tangible measures for the welfare of soldiers and Veterans,” he remarked.
He noted that the cherished land of Akhnoor holds the enduring legacy of the bravery and courage of our Veterans. The Lieutenant Governor mentioned that the 108-ft tall Monumental National Flag and Akhnoor Heritage Museum, inaugurated by Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, will inspire future generations and continually remind us of the unwavering dedication and sacrifices made by our brave soldiers and their families for our motherland.
“A martyr’s home should be regarded as a sacred temple. This respect and understanding should be ingrained in the minds of the general public. The administration and society can show their appreciation to those who have given everything for the country by meeting their responsibilities and ensuring they live in comfort and dignity,” the Lieutenant Governor conveyed.
He also highlighted several welfare programs aimed at supporting the education and career opportunities for the children of veterans.
Additionally, the Lieutenant Governor paid tribute to the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa.
A two-minute silence was observed to honor the martyrs of the Armed Forces. Mobility aids such as motorized wheelchairs and retrofitted scooters were presented to the veterans and Veer Naris.
