Srinagar, Nov 30: The Hurriyat Conference chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, called on the elected government of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday to take immediate action to end the “injustice” related to the dismissal of employees accused of having terror links and to reinstate all those who have been removed from their positions.
This statement followed the dismissal of two government officials by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who cited alleged terror affiliations.
“Two government employees were terminated with a mere stroke of a pen, denied any legal recourse! Their families are now destitute just as harsh winter approaches. Such punishment and instilling fear is typical of an authoritarian regime that governs us here,” Farooq expressed in a post on X.
He urged the elected government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the Union Territory, to restore all employees dismissed “unjustly.”
“The elected administration must act promptly to halt this injustice and reinstate all those wrongfully terminated, even without a hearing,” the separatist leader remarked.
The two employees dismissed have been named as Abdul Rehman Naika, a pharmacist in the health department, and Zahir Abbas, a teacher in the school education department.
The Lieutenant Governor invoked Article 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution for their dismissal, based on investigations by law enforcement and intelligence agencies that “clearly established their terror links.”
Under this Article, numerous government employees have been terminated in recent years. (Agencies)
