Jammu, Feb 13: Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha officially opened Jashn-e-Jammu Kashmir, a celebration symbolizing new hope in Naya J&K, at the Abhinav Theatre.
In his speech, the Lieutenant Governor commended the collaborative efforts between the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and the Jammu Kashmir Artists Association.
“Jashn-e-Jammu Kashmir serves as a reminder of our rich folk culture, which not only fills us with national pride but also reinforces the ideals of Unity in Diversity. Approximately 350 artists participating in this event showcase various arts, folk dances, and expressions that reflect the soft power of India and its ancient heritage,” remarked the Lieutenant Governor.
Discussing the remarkable transformation of Jammu Kashmir in recent years, he stated that the UT Government, guided by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, is dedicated to the principle of ‘Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi’.
It is a significant achievement that while industrial and infrastructural development has surged, there has also been a renaissance of art and culture in J&K, he noted.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the artists from Jammu Kashmir have bolstered the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ through diverse forms of art, including folk music, theatre, cinema, and literature.
“I encourage our talented artists to take a proactive role in fostering societal growth. They provide fresh perspectives and invigorate social progress. To sustain the momentum of development, it is crucial that educators, scientists, and artists collaborate to serve the nation,” he added.
He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the welfare of artists and their families.
The Lieutenant Governor praised the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for its role in transforming Abhinav Theatre into a hub for cultural and artistic activities.
Referring to the peaceful execution of the Parliamentary and Legislative Assembly elections in J&K, the Lieutenant Governor stated there were no instances of rigging or the need for repolling during the recent elections.
Despite widespread concerns about potential violence and loss of life, not a single stone-pelting incident was reported, he confirmed.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor honored several artists for their significant contributions to art and culture.
Also present were K. Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner Secretary of the Culture Department; Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner of Jammu; Harvinder Kour, Secretary of JKAACL; Gulzar Ahmed Bhat, Chairman of the J&K Artists Association, along with senior officials, artists, youth, and distinguished citizens from various sectors.
