Srinagar, Jan 18: In preparation for the upcoming Republic Day festivities, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V. K Birdi, has instructed officers to remain alert and enhance their area presence.
These directives were communicated during a security review meeting chaired by the IGP in Srinagar.
Senior officials from various security agencies attended the meeting.
According to a police spokesperson, the IGP received briefings from the officers on the security measures and preparations in place, detailing their strategies to bolster security, safeguard public areas, and ensure the smooth execution of the event.
During the discussions, Birdi assigned specific responsibilities with clear expectations for precision and careful planning.
The spokesperson indicated that further instructions were given concerning crucial arrangements for the event’s seamless execution.
“Discussion points included strategies for crowd management, traffic control plans, updates on intelligence, and the strategic deployment of law enforcement personnel,” the spokesperson mentioned.
The IGP also assessed the security provisions established for Highways, Railway Tracks, and Railway Stations throughout the valley.
Birdi instructed the Traffic division to create an effective traffic plan to ensure a smooth flow of public and private vehicles, along with unhindered transit for protected individuals.
He emphasized that action should be taken against those attempting to disrupt the peace, stating that strict legal measures would be enforced against those who abuse social media to provoke violence.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to ensure the safe and peaceful observance of Republic Day celebrations.
