JAMMU, Nov 30: M Suleman Choudhary, IGP Traffic J&K, convened a meeting with senior traffic officers in Jammu to review the ongoing traffic conditions in the city.
The discussion included the SSP Traffic City Jammu, Additional SP Traffic City Jammu, DSP Traffic North, South & Rural, as well as all DTIs of Traffic City Jammu.
During the meeting, IGP Traffic J&K analyzed feedback regarding key traffic congestion areas and their underlying causes.
He instructed officers to perform a thorough evaluation of traffic patterns, especially during peak hours, and make necessary adjustments to traffic regulations in their respective jurisdictions.
Moreover, the officer highlighted the importance of conducting special enforcement campaigns directed at underage drivers and individuals driving under the influence of alcohol.
He encouraged officers to utilize electronic devices like speed radar guns and breathalyzers and to deploy interceptor vehicles for more stringent enforcement of traffic laws.
Officers were also reminded to maintain a conspicuous presence on roads during rush hours to enhance public safety.
The IGP Traffic J&K emphasized the significance of professionalism and courtesy when engaging with the public during enforcement, aiming to build positive interactions between law enforcement and local communities.
Looking ahead, the IGP stressed the necessity of preparing for the winter season, which is expected to bring an increase in traffic, particularly from the Kashmir Valley, DKR (Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban), and Poonch-Rajouri areas.
He instructed officers to be equipped to handle the anticipated increase in vehicles and pedestrians.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to enhance traffic flow, improve road safety, and tackle congestion through coordinated effort and proactive measures.
