SRINAGAR, Jan 21: A significant shipment of illegal drugs that were reportedly being sent via a courier service in Jammu and Kashmir has been intercepted in Srinagar, according to police reports on Tuesday.

In a crackdown on illicit drug trafficking, the Srinagar Police carried out a successful operation in Karan Nagar, seizing a large shipment of illegal drugs sent through a courier service, an official confirmed. The operation unfolded at the courier service’s premises situated in the Chota Bazar area.
Following credible intelligence, law enforcement officials conducted a search at the courier office, adhering to legal protocols, which led to the discovery of a significant amount of illegal substances, the official stated.
Among the confiscated items were 220 bottles of a prohibited drug, along with 15 boxes of another banned substance, as reported by the official.
Subsequently, a case has been filed under the appropriate legal sections. Investigations are ongoing to track both the supply chain upstream and downstream of the seized shipment, he noted.
Authorities have initiated a manhunt to capture the individuals involved in this operation, the police added.
