NEW DELHI, Feb 17: In a notable display of hospitality, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, at the airport on Monday as he arrived in New Delhi for a two-day visit to India.
The Amir is set to meet President Droupadi Murmu and engage in discussions with PM Modi on Tuesday.
This visit, extended at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi, marks the Amir’s second state visit to India, having previously visited in March 2015, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
India and Qatar share strong historical ties based on friendship, trust, and mutual respect. In recent years, their relationship has further strengthened across key sectors such as trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and interpersonal connections.
