SINGAPORE, Jan 22: The High Commission of India in Singapore is set to host the Indian Film Festival 2025 (IFF 2025) in partnership with the Singapore Film Society, showcasing 18 films for the local audience to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
High Commissioner Dr Shilpak Ambule announced on Wednesday that they aim to make this festival an annual event, commencing on January 24 and continuing until March 2.
“We have curated a diverse selection of films, ranging from timeless classics to hits in various regional languages. This initiative is being conducted on a non-commercial basis with the backing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the National Film Development Corporation of India,” Ambule mentioned.
The festival will feature three films every weekend at the Golden Village Cinema in Suntec City, a vast shopping and leisure complex located in the Central Business District.
In total, the festival will present 18 films spanning multiple genres in seven of India’s languages.
All films will be screened with English subtitles, ensuring accessibility for all Singaporeans.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore.
The film festival will include classic masterpieces from renowned Bengali director Satyajit Ray as well as critically acclaimed contemporary works, marking the first of several events the High Commission plans to organize in celebration of this significant diplomatic milestone. (PTI)
