United Nations/Geneva, Feb 27: India has condemned Pakistan for bringing up the Jammu and Kashmir issue in the UN Human Rights Council, labeling it a “failed state” that depends on “international handouts” and diligently disseminates “falsehoods propagated by its military-terrorist complex.”
India asserted its Right of Reply during the high-level segment of the 58th Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Wednesday, launching a firm rebuttal against Pakistan’s habitual mention of Jammu and Kashmir at the global forum.
“India is exercising its Right of Reply in light of the unfounded and malicious assertions made by Pakistan. It is lamentable, though not surprising, to witness Pakistan’s so-called leaders and representatives consistently propagating falsehoods dictated by its military-terrorist machinery,” stated Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva.
In delivering India’s compelling response, Tyagi remarked that it is regrettable that this Council’s time is continually “wasted by a failed state that flourishes on instability and relies on international aid. Its rhetoric is steeped in hypocrisy; its actions, inhumanity; and its governance, incompetence.”
Reiterating that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are, and will always be an inseparable part of India, Tyagi noted that the remarkable political, social, and economic advancements in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years speak volumes.
“These achievements symbolize the people’s confidence in the government’s dedication to restoring normalcy in a region significantly impacted by decades of Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism,” he added.
He underscored that as a nation characterized by human rights violations, persecution of minorities, and a systematic erosion of democratic principles, which brazenly shelters UN-sanctioned terrorists, Pakistan is in no position to offer lectures.
“Rather than fixating on an unhealthy obsession with India, Pakistan should prioritize providing effective governance and justice for its own citizens,” he emphasized.
Tyagi further mentioned that Pakistan is ridiculing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) by “misusing it as its spokesperson, which is deceiving no one. We do not wish to legitimize such propaganda, but we must clarify a few essential points for the record.”
Highlighting that India remains committed to democracy, progress, and ensuring dignity for all its citizens, Tyagi stated that these are principles from which Pakistan could benefit. (Agencies)
