New Delhi, Dec 21: The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) announced on Saturday that India has been granted the hosting rights for the Junior World Cup in 2025, featuring rifle, pistol, and shotgun events. This marks a significant achievement as it will be India’s third major event organized by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) in recent years, following the senior World Cup in Bhopal in 2023 and the World Cup Final earlier this year, further establishing India’s reputation as a premier destination for shooting sports globally.
The exact dates for the tournament are yet to be confirmed.
Following the official notification from the ISSF, NRAI President Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo expressed excitement, stating, “After a productive executive committee meeting of the ISSF in Rome last month, where India’s capabilities in hosting international shooting events were commended, we are thrilled to receive this official confirmation. We are eager to showcase our best efforts.”
NRAI Secretary General Sultan Singh added, “The ISSF has requested us to propose two potential timeframes: one from September to October, and the other from late October to early November. We will finalize our options internally and communicate them to the ISSF promptly to assist member federations in their preparations.
“This event will gather the world’s future shooting champions in India, contributing to a grassroots boost for the sport within the country.”
This will be the ninth major shooting championship hosted in India over the past decade, following two continental championships and six ISSF events, including two World Cup Finals and four senior ISSF World Cups. (Agencies)
