NEW DELHI, Jan 1: Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, stated that India has the potential to significantly boost its economic influence and become a critical component of the global supply chain by capitalizing on shifts in global alliances. He emphasized that “India is well positioned to more than fend for itself.”

In his New Year message to employees, Mahindra noted that international relations are increasingly becoming transactional, largely influenced by national interests and power dynamics.

He remarked, “The past few years have been filled with shocks, changes, and uncertainties, and the year that is concluding has been no different. We are witnessing a world in flux where interdependencies and a flat global landscape may soon be historical concepts.”

Stressing that “India is well positioned to more than fend for itself,” Mahindra added, “We are no longer the 99-pound lightweight on the beach. We can project military strength, and we enjoy political stability supported by our vibrant democracy, evident in our central elections, where over a billion people voted seamlessly, peacefully, and effectively.”

He indicated that India can boost its economic capabilities by leveraging the evolving partnerships and alliances, positioning itself as a pivotal player in the global supply chain.

“We are likely to be less impacted by unpredictable global shifts than many other nations,” Mahindra stated, adding, “In this context, our Group should have ample opportunities for growth, both locally and internationally.”

Reflecting on New Year traditions of hope and optimism, Mahindra referenced the Cambridge Dictionary’s choice of “Manifest” as the word of the year, interpreting it not in its traditional sense of “to show or demonstrate,” but in its modern context of envisioning aspirations and making them a reality.

He remarked, “This suggests that despite the world’s uncertainties and the unpredictable nature of fortune, people still believe they can visualize and manifest a better life and a better world.”

Looking ahead to 2024, Mahindra shared that the group “ascended to the 11th position among the most valuable automobile manufacturers globally, surpassing numerous competitors and former technology partners.” He also commended the performance of other group companies, including Mahindra Susten, Mahindra Lifespace, and Mahindra Finance.

“One of the most memorable highlights of the past year is how our automotive division electrified Indian customers both literally and figuratively with the launch of two world-class premium electric vehicles. The positive response these EVs received exceeded even our expectations,” Mahindra stated. (PTI)
