DAVOS, Jan 24: During the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, India’s Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil expressed the country’s willingness to partner with other nations on initiatives aimed at water conservation.

Engaging in discussions throughout the five-day summit, which wraps up on Friday, Patil outlined the sustainable water management strategies implemented by the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He emphasized India’s openness to share these practices for the benefit of the global community.

“India is ready to collaborate on addressing potential water management challenges,” he stated, urging worldwide participation in water conservation initiatives and emphasizing the significant issues needing intervention.

Patil also called for nations to unite in the pursuit of equitable water management.

He reaffirmed India’s commitment to fostering global cooperation and leading transformative discussions that aim to secure water for future generations.

“Prime Minister Modi is deeply invested in this matter. Water conservation, ensuring water security, and guaranteeing access to water for all are among his primary concerns. In the past, several regions in Gujarat experienced severe water shortages, but due to visionary initiatives under his guidance, water security and stability have been achieved across the area,” he remarked.

Notably, Patil is the first Indian Minister for Water Resources to attend the WEF. He shared that PM Modi has set a goal of creating at least 75 Amrit lakes in each district, and over 60,000 lakes have been constructed or revitalized, significantly enhancing India’s water resource management efforts.
