Mumbai, Jan 17: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy will be revealed on Saturday. The announcement was made through a media advisory released by the BCCI on Friday. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar, the chairman of the men’s selection committee, will address the press conference scheduled for 12:30 PM IST.
“The Men’s Selection Committee will select India’s squad for the IDFC First Bank ODI series against England and the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in a meeting to be held tomorrow in Mumbai. This will be followed by a press conference,” the BCCI advisory stated.
Prior to the ODI series against England, a five-match T20I series will commence on January 22, starting in Kolkata. The second and third matches are set for January 25 and 28 in Chennai and Rajkot, respectively. The fourth match will be played on January 31 in Pune, with the final T20I in Mumbai on February 2.
The ODI series will kick off on February 6. India’s next big challenge is the ICC Champions Trophy, which will run from February 19 to March 9. This tournament will be co-hosted by Pakistan and the UAE, with India playing its matches in the UAE as part of a hybrid model.
The tournament will feature eight teams engaging in 15 50-over matches across Pakistan and Dubai. The highly anticipated match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai. India will begin its campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 and will wrap up its league matches against New Zealand on March 2.
Group A will include the defending champions and hosts Pakistan, alongside India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B will feature the Cricket World Cup 2023 champions Australia, along with Afghanistan, England, and South Africa. (AGENCIES)
