DUBAI, Feb 23: In a dominant performance, India triumphed over Pakistan by six wickets in a Champions Trophy match held on Sunday, effectively securing their place in the semifinals.
India bowled out Pakistan for 241 runs, with Saud Shakeel contributing 62 runs off 76 balls and captain Mohammad Rizwan scoring a painstaking 46 runs from 77 balls.
Kuldeep Yadav shone with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 40 runs, while Hardik Pandya supported him with 2 wickets for 31 runs, including the dismissals of Babar Azam (23) and Shakeel.
India’s chase was led by Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten century (100 runs off 111 balls), alongside Shubman Gill (46 runs off 52 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (56 runs off 67 balls), completing the target in just 42.3 overs.
Captain Rohit Sharma also showcased some impressive shots, contributing 20 runs off 15 balls before being dismissed by a stunning delivery from Shaheen Afridi.
With two victories in as many matches, India is virtually assured of a semifinal spot. Conversely, Pakistan finds itself on the verge of elimination after losing both of their initial group matches.
