KATHMANDU, Jan 17: On Friday, India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, made a courtesy visit to Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav.
According to the Vice President’s office, the discussion touched on various topics of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, high-level visits, economic collaboration, Nepal’s developmental priorities, and partnerships on bilateral, regional, and international platforms.
Ambassador Srivastava emphasized that despite a ban by the central government on wheat exports, 200,000 tonnes of wheat have been permitted for export to Nepal, showcasing India’s commitment to its ‘neighbourhood first’ policy.
Vice President Yadav expressed that the relationship between Nepal and India is characterized by deep, cordial, and friendly ties, founded on trust and goodwill.
He stated, “The relations between the two nations are grounded in sovereign equality, mutual respect, and understanding. There is a long-standing tradition of social, cultural, religious, spiritual, economic, and interpersonal connections between Nepal and India.” (PTI)
