LAHORE, January 2: Indian industrialist Sajjan Jindal, accompanied by his family, participated in the wedding celebrations of the grandson of former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, in Lahore, as confirmed by a leader from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday.
Jindal, who is the managing director of JSW Steel, was one of 700 guests, both local and international, attending the wedding of Zayd Hussain Nawaz, the grandson of Sharif, at the lavish Jati Umra Raiwind estate in Lahore last Sunday.
Numerous other attendees from India were also present at the event, according to a senior member of the ruling PML-N party.
The Jindal family shares a close relationship with the Sharif family and is reported to have assisted Nawaz Sharif’s son, Hussain Nawaz, in establishing a steel mill in the Gulf region.
The visit of the Indian guests, particularly the Jindal family, was kept discreet by the Sharif family. The Jindals flew into Lahore from Mumbai on a private aircraft.
For the safety of the guests, a significant police presence was deployed around Jati Umra and its vicinity. (PTI)
