The Indian women’s team continued its impressive form, securing a spot in the quarterfinals of the Kho Kho World Cup with an overwhelming 100-16 victory over Iran on Wednesday, following their recent 175-18 triumph against South Korea. Demonstrating their status as tournament favorites, India clinched the top position in their group at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. They started the match with fierce aggression, taking out Iran’s first group of players in just 33 seconds. Ashwini led the charge, while Meenu maintained her outstanding performance with numerous ‘touch points,’ propelling India to a remarkable 50 points in the first turn. The assault persisted through all four turns, highlighted by a stunning 6-minute-8-second ‘Dream Run’ in Turn 3, which decisively secured the victory. Match awards included Best Attacker: Mobina, Best Defender: Meenu, and Player of the Match: Priyanka Ingle. (PTI)
