NEW DELHI, Feb 28: India’s economic growth slowed to 6.2 percent in the third quarter of 2024-25, primarily driven by weak performances in the manufacturing and mining sectors.
The Indian economy achieved a growth rate of 6.2 percent in the third quarter of the current fiscal year (October-December 2024), compared to 9.5 percent during the same period last year, as reported by the National Statistical Office (NSO) on Friday.
The economy expanded at 5.6 percent during the July-September quarter of this fiscal year.
In its second advance estimate of national accounts, the NSO projected the nation’s growth at 6.5 percent for 2024-25.
In contrast, the initial advance estimates released in January 2025 had forecasted a growth rate of 6.4 percent for the current fiscal year.
Additionally, the NSO has revised the GDP growth for 2023-24 to 9.2 percent, up from the earlier estimate of 8.2 percent. (PTI)
