Jammu, Jan 31: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha engaged with NCC cadets who returned from the Republic Day Camp in New Delhi. The cadets recounted their experiences during the camp. The Lieutenant Governor praised the cadets and NCC officers for their outstanding performance on Kartavya Path and in various competitions. He specifically recognized SUO Ekta Kumari for her remarkable leadership of the All India NCC Girls Contingent, which brought pride to J&K.
He noted how the significant participation in the Republic Day celebrations and the accomplishments it garnered have underscored the NCC’s crucial role in shaping future leaders of the nation.
“NCC cadets consistently exhibit exceptional skills and discipline while fulfilling their responsibilities with unwavering commitment. I commend our young cadets for their enthusiasm and initiative to enhance society and tackle challenges through innovative and selfless service,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
He emphasized that “the youth are our future and hold the promise for a better world and a brighter tomorrow for J&K. They carry the weighty responsibility of upholding the ideals and values of our ancient civilization, working towards a stronger Union Territory of J&K.
The spirit of the NCC will empower them to further the mission of peace and progress, as well as foster constructive social change. NCC cadets should inspire and motivate young people to engage in nation-building activities.”
He also urged the NCC cadets to commit to five key resolutions: accelerating the development of Jammu and Kashmir, enhancing quality of life for citizens, establishing social units that focus on nation-building, inspiring positive social reform through NCC’s ideals and values, and ensuring inclusive participation from all segments of society in the nation’s progress.
The Lieutenant Governor awarded Certificates of Excellence to the cadets in recognition of their significant contributions to the success of the contingent.
On this occasion, Maj Gen A. Bevli, VSM, Additional Director General of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Directorate, presented a memento to the Lieutenant Governor as a gesture of appreciation for his ongoing support of NCC initiatives.
The vibrant cultural performances by the NCC cadets, which illustrated India’s unity in diversity, were particularly praised by the Lieutenant Governor.
This year, 127 cadets from the Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh NCC Directorate participated in the Republic Day celebration. Out of these, 17 cadets were selected to march on the Kartavya path, and 5 cadets were chosen for the Guard of Honour.
SUO Ekta Kumari led the All India NCC Girls Contingent during the Republic Day Parade 2025 on Kartavya Path, earning accolades from the President of India and the DG NCC Commendation Card.
JUO Abida Afreen, who was recognized for her exemplary performance, received the Raksha Mantri Commendation Card and has been selected to climb Mt. Everest later this year, serving as an inspiration to aspiring youth. SUO Ekta, Cadet Alankrita Sharma, ANO Dr. Lt Nitika Kundan, and Second Officer Ashaq Hussain were also distinguished with DG NCC Commendation Cards for their remarkable contributions during the camp.
The Contingent Commander, Col Amit Bhardwaj, and Nb Sub Yashbir Singh received accolades in the form of the DG NCC Medallion. Additionally, eight cadets from the contingent were awarded the prestigious DG NCC Medallions for their remarkable performance.
Senior Officers, Instructors of the J&K and Ladakh NCC Directorate, officials from the School Education Department, and representatives from Raj Bhawan were in attendance at the event.
