Bengaluru, Mar 3: IPS officer Vartika Katiyar has been transferred with immediate effect following her recent allegations against a senior officer of “planting” documents in her office.
The officer from the 2010 batch served as the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Internal Security Division in Bengaluru.
According to a notification dated March 3, “Vartika Katiyar, IPS (2010), Deputy Inspector General of Police, Internal Security Division, Bengaluru is transferred with immediate effect and will be posted until further orders as Deputy Inspector General of Police & Additional Commandant General, Home Guards & Ex-officio Additional Director, Civil Defence, Bengaluru in the downgraded vacant position.”
The Karnataka government’s order does not provide a specific reason for this immediate transfer.
Last month, Katiyar filed a written complaint against 2000-batch IPS officer Roopa D Moudgil, addressing Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh. She claimed that two junior police officers used keys from the control room to enter her office during her absence and alleged that they acted under the direction of her senior colleague, “planting” files in her workspace.
Roopa is presently serving in the Internal Security Division as the Inspector General of Police. (Agencies)
