Dehradun, Jan 7: Sanjay Gunjyal, a senior officer in the Uttarakhand cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and currently serving as the Inspector General of the ITBP, was awarded the President’s Police Medal for exceptional service on Tuesday.
He received the honor from Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, during a ceremony in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, coinciding with the raising day of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), as noted in an official release.
Gunjyal, who belongs to the 1997 batch of IPS officers, previously earned a copper plate for his successful organization of the Haridwar Purna Kumbh Mela.
He has also been honored with several medals, including the President’s Commendable Service Medal, the Prime Minister’s Life-Raksha Medal, as well as the United Nations and State Uttam Vishisht-Seva Medal.
Additionally, he received the DG ITBP Insignia Gold Disc for his exemplary work as the Inspector General of ITBP.
