JAMMU, Jan 25: On Saturday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced two Padma Vibhushan awards for Jammu and Kashmir, recognizing achievements in Art and Literature & Education, as Republic Day 2025 approaches.
Farooq Ahmad Mir has been honored for his contributions in the field of Art, while Lalit Kumar Mangotra has been recognized for his work in Literature and Education.
The Padma Awards, which are among India’s highest civilian honors, are categorized into three levels: Padma Vibhushan for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order, and Padma for distinguished service across various fields.
These prestigious awards encompass numerous disciplines, including art, social work, public affairs, science, medicine, sports, literature, and civil service.
Annually, the awards are announced on Republic Day and are presented by the President of India during ceremonial functions at Rashtrapati Bhawan, typically held in March or April. (KNO)
