Jammu, Jan 7: On Tuesday, Jammu police carried out coordinated raids at approximately twenty spa centers in response to complaints regarding alleged immoral activities, according to a senior official.
Ajay Sharma, Superintendent of Police for South Jammu, reported that the searches were conducted simultaneously at the 20 locations with local Tehsildars present.
“These operations were initiated upon the instructions of the district magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police (Jammu) following a wave of complaints about unlawful and dubious actions occurring in these establishments, which have proliferated recently,” the officer informed the press.
He elaborated that the joint search teams meticulously examined the spa centers to confirm that no immoral actions were taking place.
Additionally, he noted that there were indications that the district magistrate’s directive for adequate police verification of tenants had not been adhered to.
So far, no arrests have been made during this operation, as investigations continue, the SP stated.
Referring to previous incidents, he mentioned the arrest of two individuals in the Channi Himmat area last August on rape charges. In that case, a girl from Bihar, employed at a spa center, accused her employer of sexual assault and of pushing her into immoral activities.
