BARAMULLA, Jan 8: The Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development Department, and Panchayati Raj, Javed Ahmad Dar, made an unexpected visit to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla today to evaluate its operations and service provision.
During his visit, Principal GMC Baramulla, Dr. Majid Jahangir, along with the Medical Superintendent of the associated hospital, Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, updated the Minister on the institution’s operations, infrastructure, and the challenges it faces. They discussed ongoing projects aimed at enhancing patient care and healthcare services.
The Minister engaged with patients, their relatives, doctors, and paramedical staff to gather feedback regarding the healthcare services provided. He examined various departments and requested information on staff duty rosters, especially during the evening and morning shifts, to guarantee sufficient staffing and uninterrupted service delivery. He instructed the administration to rigorously follow duty schedules and ensure staff presence during critical hours.
Javed Dar also emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the institution, ensuring the availability of essential medicines and medical equipment, and improving emergency service response times. He further highlighted the necessity for ongoing monitoring and timely resolution of grievances to foster public trust in the healthcare system.
Reinforcing the government’s dedication to providing quality healthcare, Javed Dar urged staff to maintain high standards of professionalism and offer compassionate care to patients. He assured them of full support for strengthening the institution’s infrastructure and resources.
