New Delhi, Feb 11: In an impressive achievement, fourteen candidates from across India achieved perfect scores in the inaugural JEE-Main 2025 engineering entrance examination, as announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday. A significant number of these high achievers are from Rajasthan, with twelve of the fourteen being from the general category and one each from the OBC and SC categories. This year’s exam saw over 12.58 lakh candidates participating.
Among the candidates who attained an NTA score of 100, five hailed from Rajasthan, two from Delhi, and two from Uttar Pradesh, with additional top scorers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, and Maharashtra.
NTA officials clarified that the NTA score reflects normalized scores rather than the percentage of marks attained. These scores are adjusted across multiple exam sessions and are based on relative performance from each session of candidates, an official explained.
The scoring system converts raw marks into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for every test session, according to the official.
The examination was available in 13 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Additionally, it was conducted in 15 cities outside India, such as Manama, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore, Kuwait City, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, West Java, Washington, Lagos, and Munich.
The first edition of the exam took place in January-February, with a second edition planned for April. Candidates will be shortlisted for the JEE-Advanced exam, which serves as the gateway to admission in 23 premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), based on their JEE-Mains Paper 1 and Paper 2 results.
After both sessions of the JEE (Main)-2025 examination, candidates’ ranks will be announced, considering the best NTA scores in line with established policy. (Agencies)
