- Sports Minister recognizes Roller Skating team for winning gold at nationals
JAMMU, Dec 19: The Minister for Youth Services and Sports in J&K, Satish Sharma, has expressed his congratulations to the J&K Roller Skating team for their remarkable achievement of winning gold for the sixth consecutive time at the 62nd National Roller Skating Championship, which took place in Mysuru and Coimbatore from December 5 to December 15, 2024.
The Minister praised the athletes, stating, “Securing 23 medals in a national championship is an outstanding accomplishment. These skaters have brought pride to our region with their victories. Their dedication and hard work, along with the unwavering support of their coaches, are clearly reflected in these results. I wish the team and their mentors continued success in the future.”
Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary of Youth Services and Sports, shared his pride in the athletes, mentioning, “The success of the roller skating team highlights the extraordinary talent present in Jammu and Kashmir. It also emphasizes the necessity of providing top-tier coaching and facilities, which the Sports Council is fully committed to.”
Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, also congratulated the winning team, stating that their success in roller skating, alongside the commendable performance of the Santosh Trophy team, illustrates the thriving sports culture in our region. Our athletes are proving that with the right support, they can compete and excel at the highest levels, she added. She assured that the Sports Council will keep fostering and supporting this talent to secure further achievements for Jammu and Kashmir.
Notably, this remarkable accomplishment reflects the athletes’ dedication and the specialized training provided under the guidance of J&K Sports Council coach Krish Gupta. The intense practice sessions held at the Skating Rink, MA Stadium, Jammu, have undeniably paid off, establishing a new standard of excellence for roller skating in the region.
