JAMMU, Jan 2: On the first day of the Senior National Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships taking place in Surat, Gujarat, Muskan Rana from Jammu and Kashmir showcased her talent by winning the top position, being recognized as the best gymnast in the nation.
Facing tough competition, Muskan prevailed, surpassing her closest opponent Sanyukta Kale from Maharashtra, who finished in 2nd place. Manya, another gymnast from Jammu and Kashmir, secured the 3rd position, highlighting the impressive performance of the J&K team.
Muskan, training at the Sports Council’s Gymnastics Academy in Jammu, demonstrated outstanding talent and skill, earning her the national accolade. In the Senior Team Championships, the J&K squad, featuring Muskan Rana, Manya, Shivangi, and Jagriti Thakur, achieved the Silver Medal, with Maharashtra taking home the Gold.
Both Muskan and Manya qualified for the Individual Apparatus Finals across all four events – Hoop, Ball, Clubs, and Ribbon – and are anticipated to bring home additional medals for J&K as the event continues.
Er. Kiran Wattal, Vice President of the Gymnastics Federation of India, commended the coaches for their hard work, which played a crucial role in these significant accomplishments. He also praised the J&K administration, led by LG Manoj Sinha, for its commitment to providing top-tier sports infrastructure and for organizing an unprecedented number of national championships. Both Sarmad Hafiz, Commissioner YS&S, and Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, received recognition for their relentless efforts in advancing sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
