SRINAGAR, Feb 10: As part of its commitment to social responsibility, J&K Bank has initiated a comprehensive campaign to assist individuals with hearing and speech challenges in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. This initiative, supported under the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, is being executed in collaboration with the Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), a non-profit organization specializing in healthcare and rehabilitation.
The campaign was formally launched by the Bank’s General Manager (S&IT/CSR) Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, who was joined by the Chairman & Patron of VMS, Dr Mir Mohammad Maqbool, along with Deputy General Manager Manju Gupta, Zonal Head (Srinagar) Raja Zaffar Khan, Director VMS Dr Bashir Lone, and other senior officials from both organizations at the VMS Complex in Bemina.
As part of the initiative, the General Manager also handed over keys for a mobility van to the Chairman of VMS, a purchase funded by the Bank aimed at broadening outreach and amplifying the campaign’s reach.
During the event, Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat stated, “At J&K Bank, we strive to build an inclusive and equitable society by assisting those who need help in enhancing their quality of life. Through our CSR initiative, which provides assistive devices and therapy for individuals with hearing and speech impairments, we not only improve their access to healthcare but also empower them socially and economically.”
VMS Patron Dr Maqbool commented, “J&K Bank’s initiative plays a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of individuals with hearing and speech challenges. Our collaborative campaign intends to make a genuine impact in their lives by ensuring they receive necessary medical care and essential aids.”
As part of this initiative, 15 speech and audiology medical camps will be set up across the region. It is anticipated that over 1500 individuals will directly benefit from free hearing aids, while many others will receive medical evaluations at these camps. Furthermore, various beneficiaries will participate in speech therapy sessions to enhance their communication skills.
