JAMMU, Jan 8: In light of the recent identification of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) cases across the nation, the Jammu and Kashmir health department has established a dedicated ICU ward in Jammu to prepare for any possible outbreak of the virus.
“We have set up a dedicated ICU facility to manage any situation that may arise. Should a pandemic occur, we are fully prepared,” stated Dr. Hamid Zargar, the medical superintendent of Gandhinagar government hospital, in an interview with PTI.
“This climate-controlled ward is equipped with eight beds, each having ventilator support and a continuous 24×7 oxygen supply,” he mentioned.
