Srinagar, February 24: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecasted widespread light to moderate rain and snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming three days.
On Monday, the MeT predicts isolated light rain across Jammu and Kashmir.
“From February 25 to 28, expect fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rain and snow, with some areas experiencing isolated heavy precipitation,” the MeT office stated.
Additionally, an advisory has been issued indicating potential temporary disruptions in surface transportation, particularly over Sadhna Pass, Razdan Pass, Sonamarg-Zojila-Gumri axis, Mughal Road, Sinthan Pass, and various major routes in hilly areas.
“Tourists, travelers, and transporters should plan their journeys accordingly and heed any admin or traffic advisories,” the advisory emphasizes.
Farmers are also advised to suspend irrigation and other agricultural activities during this forecast period.
The night temperatures saw a slight increase yet remained below freezing at most weather stations throughout the Kashmir Valley.
The minimum temperature observed during the night between Sunday and Monday in Srinagar was below zero, with Gulmarg recording -4.0°C, Pahalgam at -3.2°C, and Qazigund at -1.0°C.
On Sunday, daytime temperatures rose by 4 to 6°C throughout the Kashmir Valley, with Srinagar and Kupwara both hitting a maximum of 16.6°C— the highest among other stations.
In the Jammu division, day temperatures increased by 2 to 4°C, with Kathua reaching 24.6°C and Jammu at 24.2°C, according to the MeT office.
