JAMMU, Jan 18: The authorities have mandated a complete closure of the Mughal road until further notice, as indicated by a formal announcement from the District Magistrate of Poonch.
As previously reported, vehicular movement on the Mughal road has been suspended for the past twenty-one days due to extremely slippery conditions, with officials hoping for a return to normal by improving the road’s surface condition.
However, following recent adverse weather within the last 48 hours, there has been additional snowfall on the route, exacerbating the already slippery conditions and rendering it impossible to restore access to the road for several weeks.
Given this scenario, officials have conveyed that the District Magistrate has ordered the closure of the road until further directives.
A comprehensive report detailing the road conditions and the challenges in restoring traffic due to frost was submitted to the district magistrate by Traffic Police.
“The road is expected to remain closed throughout this winter season and will be accessible again only during the upcoming summer months,” officials stated.
