AMRITSAR, Dec 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) established and sponsored the Jammu & Kashmir Pavilion at the 18th Punjab International Trade Expo (PITEX), which took place in Amritsar from December 5-9, 2024.
This pavilion, showcasing a remarkable blend of traditional craftsmanship, authentic local products, and budding entrepreneurial talents, became a highlight of the expo, receiving accolades from visitors, business delegations, and the media.
With 30 well-designed stalls, including contributions from 12 women entrepreneurs, JKTPO supported exhibitors from various regions of Jammu and Kashmir, who presented their distinctive local creations, transforming the pavilion into a major draw for over four lakh attendees from across India and beyond.
The Jammu & Kashmir Pavilion exhibited an exclusive array of items, including Basohli Pashmina Shawls, Kani and Sozni embroidered fabrics and stoles, renowned Kashmiri saffron, as well as dry fruits and vegetables, hand-embroidered Phiran, Kashmiri attire, honey, and Rajmash from the Jammu area. The pavilion evolved into a dynamic venue where patrons not only purchased these exceptional items but also interacted directly with artisans, learning about the traditions and dedication that went into each piece.
The event was a significant success, generating sales exceeding Rs 1 crore and producing business leads with the potential for future orders, ensuring considerable economic growth for local artisans and entrepreneurs.
The achievements of the Jammu & Kashmir Pavilion at PITEX 2024 underscore JKTPO’s commitment to enhancing market opportunities for local artisans and entrepreneurs. By promoting B2B and B2C interactions, this initiative works to connect cultures, support livelihoods, and stimulate economic growth in the Union Territory.
Following the success of such initiatives, JKTPO has recently hosted key events, including the JK Textile Sourcing Fair 2024 in Srinagar on November 28 and 29, the Basmati Fair in Jammu, and participation in IITF 2024 in Delhi, showcasing Jammu and Kashmir’s economic potential.
Looking ahead, JKTPO intends to take part in major events such as the India International Mega Trade Fair in Kolkata, Indus Food, MITEX, Surajkund Mela, and Bharat Tex 2025, alongside organizing the 2nd Agro & Food Fest on January 22, 2025, and the JK Trade Show 2025, Winter edition, on January 31, 2025.
