Srinagar, Dec 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully rescued nine passengers who found themselves stranded due to snowfall at Sinthan Top in Anantnag district on Friday, according to officials.
The situation arose when a passenger made a distress call reporting that their vehicle, traveling from Kishtwar to Daksum, skidded off the road and fell into a water drain, leaving the occupants trapped in adverse weather conditions.
A swift response from the Kokernag Police team enabled them to reach the scene promptly and safely rescue all the passengers.
In light of the severe weather, the District Police in Ganderbal has set up police teams across the region to assist the general public and tourists, aiming to prevent any potential incidents or distress, particularly in remote areas, tourist spots, and locations prone to heavy snowfall.
“The established teams are actively providing support to stranded passengers, tourists, and vehicles caught in the snow,” the police remarked.
