Srinagar, Dec 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized properties worth Rs 3 Crore belonging to drug dealers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Srinagar.
On Wednesday, the Srinagar Police announced the attachment of a three-story residential building owned by drug peddler Abdul Ahad Bhat, a resident of Banpora Batamaloo, valued at Rs 65 lakhs, under section 68 of the NDPS Act pertaining to case FIR No. 31 of 2024.
“The accused is a known drug trafficker who distributed narcotics to the youth, leading to the registration of FIR No.31/2024 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Shaheed Gunj, where a significant quantity of narcotics was seized,” stated the police.
Additionally, another three-story residential property located at Umer Lane Azad Basti, with an estimated worth of Rs 2.5 crores and owned by Manzoor Ahmad Bhat from Natipora, was attached under section 68(F) of the NDPS Act.
“This individual is also implicated in drug trafficking targeting local youth, which prompted the registration of FIR No. 35/2024 under sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Chanapora,” the police remarked.
“Both properties were acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug activities,” the police explained, adding, “As a result, these have been attached following confirmation from the relevant authority and SAFEMA and NDPSA administrators.”
“In accordance with sections 68 E and 68 F of the NDPS Act, the properties obtained through unlawful actions by the accused are subject to seizure or attachment, and cannot be transferred, sold, purchased, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority,” they further added.
