JAMMU, Dec 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Cricket team showcased an impressive performance by defeating Mizoram by 223 runs in the ongoing Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy held at 22 Yards, Salt Lake, Kolkata today. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, J&K amassed a formidable total of 353/6 in their allotted 50 overs, with stellar contributions from skipper Jasia Akhtar, Rubia Syed, and Chitra Singh Jamwal.
Leading from the front, Jasia Akhtar delivered an exceptional innings scoring 165 runs off 111 balls, which included 20 fours and 8 sixes, anchoring the team’s innings effectively. Chitra Singh Jamwal added a valuable 75 runs from 114 balls, while Rubia Syed made an explosive impact with a swift 71 not out off just 29 balls, peppering the boundary with 2 fours and 8 sixes. Despite a challenging start from openers Rudrakshi Chib (12) and Bawandeep Kaur (8), J&K’s middle order ensured a strong total.
In response, Mizoram struggled and was bowled out for a mere 130 runs. Felfel Pautu was the top scorer for Mizoram with 48 runs, supported by Anita Lodhi who scored 27. For J&K, Mariya Noorain, Sandhya Sayal, and Rudrakshi Chib each took 3 wickets, while Ananya Sharma added one wicket to the tally. Jasia Akhtar was rightly awarded the Player of the Match for her remarkable century.
