- Jammu and Kashmir recognized as one of the top five contributing states/UTs nationwide
SRINAGAR, Dec 17: Students from Jammu and Kashmir excelled at the National Level Eco Hackathon, which took place at the NDMC Convention Centre in Delhi on December 17, 2024. Their remarkable achievements have brought further acclaim to the Department of School Education in Jammu & Kashmir.
Two students stood out at the national level in the Eco-creativity & Innovation Hackathon: Humaira Showkat from HSS Danow Kulgam, who won the 1st Prize, and Sheikh Anzar from HSS Fatehgarh Baramulla, who secured the 2nd Prize.
Notable districts such as Pulwama, Samba, Budgam, and Udhampur were recognized for their outstanding performances, while students from Baramulla, Kulgam, and Kupwara were acknowledged for their innovative ideas.
Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir was honored for being among the top five contributing states/UTs across the country.
It is important to highlight that the Eco Creativity and Innovation Hackathon is an initiative by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in partnership with Amazon Future Engineer and Pi Jam Foundation. The program was launched on June 5, 2024, coinciding with World Environment Day.
The Jammu and Kashmir team was led by Dr. G.N. Itoo, Director of School Education Kashmir, along with the Director of School Education Jammu and the Project Director Samagra Shiksha J&K. Students, teachers, and principals from selected schools also attended the award ceremony.
This nationwide event featured 35 top ideas selected from a staggering 6.9 lakh participants and took place at NDMC Delhi on December 17, 2024. Key attendees included the Secretary of Environment (MoEFCC), Secretary of Education (GoI), and other distinguished guests from the participating states.
Dr. G.N. Itoo commended the students for their significant accomplishments, stating, “We are dedicated to enhancing the standards of education in Jammu and Kashmir and fostering an innovative ecosystem in our schools to empower our students to become job creators in the future, rather than job seekers.”
