JAMMU, Jan 25: In an impressive performance, Jammu and Kashmir triumphed over the formidable Mumbai team by five wickets in their Elite ‘A’ Ranji Trophy match at BKC Stadium in Maharashtra on Saturday.
Chasing a target of 205, Jammu and Kashmir experienced some challenges, losing five wickets along the way. They were in a strong position at 112/1 but then faced a setback at 159/5. However, the partnership between Abid Mushtaq and Kanhaiya Wadhavan proved crucial, guiding the team to victory against the defending champions. This win positions J&K at number 2 in the points table. The Mumbai squad included international players such as Ajinkya Rahane (C), Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, and Shardul Thakur.
Yudhvir Singh Charak, a 27-year-old player from J&K, was awarded the man of the match for his all-round contributions, taking seven wickets and scoring 20 runs. This match was notable as it marked the return of Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma to the domestic circuit after a decade.
