Srinagar, March 3: Following recent snowfall, the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) has issued an avalanche warning for the mountainous areas of five districts within the Union Territory for the next 24 hours, according to officials.

An avalanche with a “medium danger” rating is expected to occur above 2,500 meters in the Baramulla, Ganderbal, Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts of Jammu and Kashmir within the next 24 hours. Residents in these regions have been urged to exercise caution and avoid areas susceptible to avalanches until further notice. Recent weather has brought moderate to heavy snowfall, with some higher elevations receiving new snowfall today, leading authorities to issue this avalanche warning as a precaution. Additionally, residents in these areas have been advised to call 112 for assistance in case of an emergency.
