Jammu, Dec 6: On Friday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police collaborated with the Border Security Force to carry out a joint patrolling operation near the International Border in Samba district, with the objective of fortifying the border grid, according to an official report.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Virinder Singh Manhas, along with the commandants of the BSF’s 65th and 159th battalions, took part in this thorough patrolling exercise, which aimed to evaluate security readiness and key locations along the India-Pakistan border in the Ghagwal-Samba sector, as stated by a police spokesperson.
The joint team examined various streams, culverts, and canals to pinpoint potential vulnerabilities in the area. They also engaged with local residents to improve police-community coordination and promote the timely reporting of any suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies, the spokesperson added.
Throughout the exercise, the officers communicated with personnel, urging them to remain vigilant and cautious in their duties to prevent any incidents.
Discussions were held regarding various security parameters and strategies to further enhance the district’s border security grid, according to the spokesperson.
Additionally, Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, visited Special Operations Group camps in the Bani-Machedi area near Kathua to assess operational readiness in the district.
Accompanied by Inspector General of CRPF, Jammu Sector, R. Gopala Krishna Rao, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua, Shobhit Saxena, the ADGP reviewed the infrastructure, equipment, and training facilities at the SOG camps in Lowang and Duggaini. He engaged with SOG personnel and evaluated security measures, counter-insurgency tactics, and preparedness for addressing new challenges in the border district, the spokesperson noted.
The ADGP instructed personnel to stay alert and take proactive steps to counteract crime and terrorism. He encouraged teams to uphold high standards of vigilance, professionalism, and cooperation with other security agencies to ensure regional safety and security, according to the spokesperson.
Security measures along the borders in Jammu have been intensified to prevent any infiltration attempts by Pakistani terrorists during the winter months. (Agencies)
