Jammu, Dec 4: A coordinated search operation commenced on Wednesday following the sound of a loud explosion in Surankote town, Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials indicated that a joint search was triggered after the noise was detected in the Poonch district’s Surankote.
“The explosion is thought to have taken place near an army installation in Surankote town,” officials stated, adding that more information is anticipated.
In recent months, terrorist activities have surged in the union territory, particularly after the peaceful participation of the public in the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections.
In response, security forces, including police and the army, have intensified operations against both terrorists and their accomplices.
Most of these attacks have occurred in the Jammu division, affecting districts like Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Kishtwar, Reasi, and Udhampur.
Some of the heinous assaults targeted unarmed civilians. (Agencies)
