JAMMU, Dec 26: Today, Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu, met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
During the meeting, Prof. Rai expressed his appreciation to the Lieutenant Governor for his ongoing support and guidance towards the University of Jammu, which has been instrumental in the University achieving the esteemed A++ Grade in the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation, along with a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.72.
The Lieutenant Governor, serving as the Chancellor of the University of Jammu, praised the University’s unwavering commitment to excellence in academics and research, recognizing the collaborative efforts of the administration, faculty, staff, and students.
He stated that the A++ Grade is a testament to the collective commitment of the University’s stakeholders and its mission to provide quality education.
Prof. Umesh Rai noted that the university has made significant progress from the A+ Grade with a CGPA of 3.51 in Cycle III. This recent accreditation places the University among the distinguished group of A++ institutions in the country (in the fourth Cycle). The A++ grade will remain valid for seven years.
A seven-member NAAC Peer Team, led by Prof. Anant Kumar Tyagi, Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, visited the University of Jammu from December 11 to December 13, 2024, to assess the university based on various Key Performance Areas, including Curricular Aspects, Teaching-Learning & Evaluation, Research, Innovations & Extension, Infrastructure & Learning Resources, Student Support & Progression, Governance, Leadership & Management, and Institutional Values & Best Practices.
Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor were Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean of Academic Affairs; Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean of Planning and Development; Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean of Research Studies; Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Registrar and Special Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor; and Dr. Ginny Dogra, Director of the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance.
